Michael is a shareholder, investor, and venture partner at Tribe Global Ventures.
Starting his career as a quarry engineer, MIchael soon realised he had an interest in developing computer systems and was able to create a program that reduced an administrative task from two days to 15 minutes.
He continued his passion for computer programming while working as a plant engineer at Leightons Contractors, and after a two-day course developed a program that provided access to a wealth of information about the plant and machinery on-site.
While building two childcare centres in Brisbane with his partner, he soon realised the financial cost of fees in arrears, so he co-founded Ezidebit. This idea had a significant impact on their childcare businesses, with 90 per cent of fees paid on time.
Fast forward to 2014 and Mick sold Ezidebit to US-based Global Payments for $305 million, personally walking away with about $150 million from the transaction.
At the time of sale, Ezidebit was handling $3.5 billion worth of payments for 16,000 businesses across Australia and New Zealand, and had 130 staff across the two countries and has just opened an office in Hong Kong.
Today, Mick is an active angel and venture investor, and works to support our portfolio companies at Tribe Global Ventures.
